Description
Cet été qui chantait
«Not everyone can travel to Gabrielle Roy’s former home in Quebec and sleep in her bed. St. Boniface is a lot closer.» – Ben Waldman, Winnipeg Free Press.
«The fruit of several years’ work, it is perhaps the biggest project ever completed by Marie-Ève Fontaine» – Jonathan Semah, La Liberté.
SYNOPSIS
A raven, carried by the breeze, flies over the mountains, the valley and finally the river. Follow him visually: he will guide you to the little house with green shutters, right at the end of the road to Petite-Rivière-Saint-François. There, you find Gabrielle observing, with her shiny eyes, all the life in this part of the country: the little hay straw dancing in the wind; the flowers mushrooming on a manure pile; the white and black birds hugging the shoals crying at low tide; the fireflies whispering at nightfall. Inspired by the eponymous book by Gabrielle Roy, Cet été qui chantait is a show which is all images and gentleness. Marie-Ève Fontaine recreates the profoundly poetic universe of the Franco-Manitoban author in a puppet theatre and invites you to engage in a sensory journey that will please both young and old.
